Native Instruments today released LORES, the latest addition to their range of KONTAKT instruments, in collaboration with world-class sample library developer Evolution Series.
If music is a story, LORES is the narrator, inviting listeners on a sonic trip around the world to hear a unique tale. With 16 instruments and over 300 hand-played articulations to mix and match, from classic woodwinds to rare chordophones, the library makes it easy to add magic to cinematic scenes. The intuitive, playful interface invites composers into the narrative to create extraordinary sonic soundscapes.
Meticulously curated and refined, LORES dissolves the boundaries of traditional instrumentation. The new instrument brings together fantastical blends between traditional strings and eclectic instruments, such as the hurdy-gurdy and shakuhachi or Mongolian horse fiddle and medieval pipes. Together, random swells, unexpected tremolos, and stray harmonics create organic variations for evolving tones and textures.
LORES is modeled after the core workflow of award-winning film and television composer Clinton Shorter. Functioning as a creative space for playful experimentation, instruments can be staged within multi-dimensional smoke plumes or subtly tuned with dynamic effects.
Learn more about Shorter’s writing process and the quest Evolution Series undertook to build his ideal instrument in this interview.
