Universal Audio Wins Two TEC Awards at NAMM 2018

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA • February 9, 2018 — Universal Audio, a leading manufacturer of professional audio recording hardware and software, is proud to announce that the Apollo Twin MkII audio interface and SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Collection have each won Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Awards in the Computer Audio Hardware and Signal Processing Software categories, respectively.

The TEC Awards were established in 1985 to honor outstanding achievement in professional audio production and product innovation. Hundreds of entries for nomination were reviewed and voted upon by an extensive panel of veteran sound and music industry professionals in the U.S. and abroad.

Apollo Twin MkII Wins TEC Award

Winning the Computer Audio Hardware category, Apollo Twin MkII is a ground-up redesign of the world’s most popular professional desktop recording interface for Mac and Windows — delivering enhanced audio conversion with the tone, feel, and flow of analog recording.

Apollo Twin MkII was also the recipient of Sound on Sound’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Audio Interface.

SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Plug-In Wins TEC Award

Winning the Signal Processing Software category, the SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Collection for UAD-2 hardware and UA Audio Interfaces faithfully models the original preamp’s Jensen input transformers and dbx “gold-can” VCA output section. By capturing the preamp’s signature nonlinear amp behaviors, the new SSL 4000 E Channel Strip Collection offers all of the expansive, punchy, deep, assertive character of the original hardware.

“Universal Audio is honored to receive these two TEC Awards,” says Bill Putnam Jr., CEO and founder of Universal Audio, “Both the Apollo Twin MkII and SSL 4000 E Channel Strip plug-in were significant projects requiring extensive teamwork and craftsmanship on both the hardware and software fronts. We truly appreciate the recognition.”
